4 x j(A)zz! | KYO:DUO (MM/AT)

20:00
Opus Jazz Club
Featuring:
  • Saw Thet Tun Oo – violin
  • Clemens Rofner – double bass

KYO:DUO explores uncharted sonic territories through the unconventional pairing of double bass (Clemens Rofner) and violin (Saw Thet Tun Oo). The duo develops exclusively original compositions at the intersection of global music, jazz, and free improvisation. Their reduced instrumentation becomes a creative catalyst, enabling a sonic palette that ranges from meditative acoustic passages to multilayered experimental textures – creating an independent musical language that challenges established duo conventions.

Both musicians bring extensive international experience to the project, having performed in over 30 countries and at major festivals such as Jazzfest Wien, North Sea Jazz, and Trondheim Jazz Festival. Their individual careers include collaborations with artists like Anoushka Shankar, Manu Delago, Adam Holzman, and Mino Cinelu, as well as work with ensembles including Nordic Pulse, Baltic Sea Philharmonic, and Absolute Ensemble. Their shared background in orchestral crossover projects and global music traditions shapes KYO:DUO’s adventurous approach.

KYO:DUO’s philosophy is to play the room – simple & acoustic or “plugged-in” – adapted to multiple settings, while their minimalist means deliver maximum artistic intensity. KYO:DUO embodies contemporary chamber music that bridges cultural and stylistic boundaries.
