Aki Takase Carmen Rhapsody (JP/DE/FR)
- Aki Takase - piano
- Mayumi Nakamura - mezzo soprano
- Daniel Erdmann - saxophone
- Vincent Courtois - cello
Aki Takase, a Japanese pianist living in Germany, - who has already performed with several formations on the Opus Jazz Club's stage and whose albums with Japanic and saxophonist Daniel Erdmann in duo has been released by BMC Records - this time extends his experimental attitude towards classical music. She applies Bizet: Carmen to a contemporary jazz chamber orchestra with opera singer Mayumi Nakamura, an old fellow musician, former student, saxophonist Daniel Erdmann and his cellist friend Vincent Courtois. During the two-year creative process, Aki Takase combined Bizet’s classics with elements inspired by John Cage, among others, whose compositional technique and vision also had a major impact on Aki Takase’s musical thinking. The musicians will also record Carmen Rhapsody at BMC Records Studio on the days of their concert at the Opus Jazz Club.
