Edina Mókus Szirtes (H)

20:00
Opus Jazz Club
Featuring:
  • Edina Mókus Szirtes - vocals, violin, loops

Talking about the music of Edina Mókus Szirtes, world music is often mentioned. Most of all, however, she is a creative artist who has been trying from the beginning to expand limits. She is rather a classical musician, however with a couple of musical features indeed that add to her songs some folk or ethno touch. The source for them is her enthusiasm for the music of the peoples of the surroundings or even from thousands of miles: Transylvanian, Gypsy, Celtic or even Afro-American music. The result may be eclectic, as Mókus (=Squirrel) can’t withstand any good music. Edina, beyond her music, would like to leave something else as well: thoughts. That we are not alone, that there are still dreamers, to take power from themselves (because it is always hidden there), to stand up if we feel fallen, and that just a drop of love can spell a miracle out of the total chaos. Harmony, affiliation, music. Sometimes she is caressing, soft-hearted, sometimes piercing, snappy, cheeky, screaming, but honest, heart-stricken and heartbreaking.
