Since the release of the CD Ballads & Barricades Das Kapital has become a household name on the European Jazz scene. Playing festivals such as Tampere Jazzhappening, Saalfelden, Europa Jazz, Jazz sous les Pommiers, BerlinJazzfestival, Deutsches Jazzfestival... making tours in Kazakhstan, the Baltics, Morocco, Central America, all over Europe of course centered in Germany and France, the trio has become one of the most exciting groups of the moment.

Dawn, the red morning! What a pleasure it is to see groups that have worked together for many years and that have developed a unique style. Das Kapital is one of those reliable bands in which three thoroughbred musicians work together; German saxophonist Daniel Erdmann, Danish guitarist Hasse Poulsen and French Drummer Edward Perraud.

After two albums devoted to the songs of Hanns Eisler (its presentation at the Opus Jazz Club in January 2014 ended up with standing ovation) and an album of Christmas songs, they presented their own compositions on their 2015 album Kind of Red, released by the prestigious Label Bleu from France. A change of direction? No, not at all, since the strengths and styles on previous albums have enabled the musicians to shape their own process of composition.

For Erdmann, Poulsen and Perraud there's always a moment of free invention in thier music. The scape fills intuitively in each title. Without seeking perfection, they capture the moment when the music happens. Each musician brought his melodic impressions to the studio. The approach is organic and the development of the music is totally based on listening to one other.

Kind of Red is based on three centres of gravity which are directly linked to the realities of life in the heart of Europe. A reality that is in the past and in the future at the same time. The morning is red!
