“Since their first encounter, Dukay and Grencsó have been sending musical messages from a mutual spiritual space. Their pieces miss any rhythm-section in the traditional jazz-sense, and they are freely improvised from the first sound to the last. In recent years, Grencsó has gone beyond the loose frame of avant-garde / free jazz, and in the tight intellectual and spiritual intertexture with Barnabás Dukay he has entered new, basically uncharted territories on styles and genres. There is hard to find any kind of genre-definition that would fit to this unique, unmistakable sound and organic texture, perhaps “free chamber” could describe it the closest, undoubtedly feeding from the form-breaking efforts of jazz as well as sources of contemporary music.”
