Makám is one of the most renowned Hungarian acts on the ethno, folk, and world music scene. The band has performed in numerous European countries, from Paris to Varna, Krakow to Split, and has toured India's major cities. In addition to traditional music, their songs are also influenced by the Far East, the Balkans, and jazz. Makám's sound is also made unique by the combination of ethnic and traditional European instruments. The band's latest projects are characterized by archaic forms of Hungarian folk music and the rediscovery of song. Their recently released albums feature a personal style, nurtured by the intimate blend of exotic rhythms and lyrical confessions. Synthesizing the legacy of Bartók and Kodály and the musical elements of our time remains Makám's unchanging artistic credo.
