The repertoire of the Szabolcs Sári Septet is mainly composed and arranged by the bandleader himself, but is always enriched by the interpretations of the talented musicians in the group. The band strives to revive the mainstream jazz style of 1950s America, and their work is perhaps most strongly associated with the so-called post-bop style. Although most of the music is related to this era, the septet also performs a range of other songs as well, such as folk song arrangements and ballads reminiscent of film music. Their concerts usually include mid-tempo dixie and bossa nova alongside the upbeat, fast-paced compositions.
