F.R.E.W (Folk Roots Electro Wings) | Montanaro – Borbély – Zlatanos (FR/HU/GR)

20:00
Opus Jazz Club
Featuring:
  • Miquèu Montanaro –  wind instruments
  • Mihály Borbély – wind instruments
  • Vasilis Zlatanos – electronics

Formed in 2023, the music of the F.R.E.W duo is rooted in folk, exploring popular themes with electronic development and a mood for improvisation. Two musical worlds converge in the band: the Occitan-born musician, composer and poet, Miquèu Montanaro wanders across musical collaborations and also the realms of dance, theater, and film with flutes, accordion, and saxophones in hand, while the Greek musician, composer, and sound designer Vasilis Zlatanos focuses his attention on blending acoustic and electronic elements. In the second half of the concert, they will be joined by Mihály Borbély, who began spreading his wings in jazz and improvisational music with the ensemble Vents d’Est, led by Montanaro. First, we will hear an improvisational dialogue between the wind instruments, and then Zlatanos will add his electronic treatments to the conversation.
