Opus Jazz Club
Featuring:
  • Sándor Molnár - saxophone
  • Krisztián Oláh - piano

Sándor Molnár is one of the most versatile and outstanding saxophonists of his generation. After graduating from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, he obtained diploma at the Graz Academy of Music. His name is familiar both on the Hungarian and the international jazz scene, he plays regularly with Róbert Szakcsi Lakatos, Nikoletta Szőke and Tzumo and he performed also with his former quartet at the Opus., as well as his former quartet in Opus.

In his current, renewed formation, his own compositions come to the fore, through which he presents a previously unknown side of him. In his exploratory compositions he is seeking for new ways of expression, using both the effects of experimental jazz and unmistakable post-bop elements. In order to realize his musical ideas, he chose Krisztián Oláh, György Orbán and András Pecek Lakatos for his partners, as all of them are improvisational artists with similar musical aspirations, and with whom they can create a constantly changing, vivid musical atmosphere. (On the concert Ellemér Balázs replaces András Pecek Lakatos due to another performance of him abroad.)
