Vandermark-Grencsó-Harnik-Kern Quartet (US/HU/AT)

20:00
Opus Jazz Club
Featuring:
  • István Grencsó – winds
  • Elisabeth Harnik – piano
  • Ken Vandermark – winds
  • Didi Kern – drums

A new international music quartet will begin its work together in Hungary during November 2021 with concerts and a recording session. The quartet aims to fuse a wide range of musical backgrounds and traditions into a unique amalgam. Grencsó has been the uncompromising leader of Hungary’s avant-garde for decades; Harnik is a central figure of Austrian new music and free improvisation; Vandermark is one of the most prolific and prominent members of the American free music scene; And Didi Kern is a sought figure in the Austrian experimental scene, who moves at least as familiarly in free jazz as in the noise, rock, techno genres.

The ensemble will utilize compositions of Grencsó and Vandermark, written specifically for this group, to be realized through the use of pure improvisation. A tour in Europe, coupled with the release of their first record, is planned for April 2022.

Tickets are available for 2000 HUF on the spot, online at bmc.jegy.hu, and at InterTicket Jegypont partners across Hungary.
